2021 will be the forty-second consecutive running of the Laurel Highlands 70.5 mile race and the sixteenth running of the 50K race. We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we run the Laurel Highlands Ultra is the original homelands of the Monongahela, Shawnee and other nomadic nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land. Laurel Highlands welcomes racers of every race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics or disability.
The races start in Ohiopyle, PA, with the 70.5 mile individual and 70.5
relay races running the entire length of the Laurel Highlands Hiking
Trail to Rt 56 in Seward, PA. The 50K races finishing at the 31 mile
point near the intersection of Route 31. All of the races are
point-to-point.
All 50K Individual & 50K relay racers can sign up here! 70.5Mile
Individual racers & 70.5Mile Relay racers will continue to mail in
applications that are found, for a limited time, on the Laurel
Highlands Ultra website.
The novel coronavirus “COVID-19” continues to impact our communities
and officials continue to take important steps to ensure public safety.
We here at Redpoint Productions regularly monitor the situation and
strive to take the best path forward to keep all racers and community
members safe.
The health of our participants, spectators, partners and employees is
our top priority and we are committed to providing the safest
environment for all who attend the event.
We have worked very closely with the Pennsylvania DCNR and local
officials to comply with all public health suggestions. We have
developed a modified race format that will reduce interactions and
encourage distancing among participants, staff and volunteers. It is
possible that more modifications will take place as conditions change.
A few of the current race format modifications are staggered start
times (to be announced), NO SPECTATORS & NO PACERS. 70.5Mile racers
will be allowed 1 crew member each. 50K racers are not permitted to
have any crew. Aid Stations will have structured water/electrolyte
stations, but food options will be limited to single serve pre-packaged
foods. Racers are encouraged to pack their own nutrition in drop bags
that will be delivered to EVERY aid station.
We hope to see you out there on June 12 & 13! Thank you and stay safe!
