Laurel Highlands Ultra Races

2022 Registration Details!

Historically you’d be digging out a dusty checkbook, making sure stamp prices haven’t gone up since last year and obsessively clicking the application link on this green website. Not this year!

As the world and ultra community continues to evolve and reshape,  Laurel Highlands Ultra is no exception. 2022 Registration will be a lottery drawing! We believe the lottery drawing will offer many racers the opportunity to join the event and bring some great energy as LHU enters it’s 5th decade of racing.

Don’t waste that stamp

In honor of the decades long tradition we’ll still be accepting mailings. But this year it will be in postcard form. Mail in a postcard from your hometown by Dec 15th and you’ll be entered into the secondary “lottery”. A winner will be chosen at random to receive a limited edition 2022 Laurel HIghlands Hoodie.

What you need to know

If you are chosen in the lottery your credit card on file will be charged. Then you will receive an email from UltraSignup with Instructions on how to complete your registration. You will have 3 days to login and complete it. There will be some lottery spots reserved for groups that the RDs are working directly with in order to build a more diverse, equitable and inclusive trail race and LHU community.

Safety

The 2022 race will be a single day event, with both distances racing on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Currently, we do not expect any restrictions to the race format due to COVID 19 mitigation efforts. Welcome to the homepage for the Laurel Highlands Ultra races. Each year the race is held on the second Saturday in June. 2022 will be the forty-third running of the 70.5 mile race and the seventeenth running of the 50K race.

We acknowledge that the land on which we run the Laurel Highlands Ultra is the original homelands of the Monongahela, Shawnee and other nomadic nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land. Laurel Highlands welcomes racers of every race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics or disability.

All of the races are point-to-point. The races will start in Ohiopyle, PA, with the 70.5 mile individual and relay races running the entire length of the trail to Seward, PA and the 50K races finishing at the 31 mile point before  the intersection of Route 31. All of the races are point-to-point along the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail.

We hope to see you out there on June 11th! Thank you and stay safe!

Special thanks to the Pennsylvania state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) for allowing the use of the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail for this race.
